Becoming a master chef isn't a piece of cake. You will need know a lot about cooking, and aside from that, rise through the ranks of aspiring master chefs to bag the much-coveted prestige. While most people believe that you are well-compensated at luxurious levels as a master chef, it is something that you must do out of passion and not merely for monetary benefits. Here are things you can to becoming a master chef.

1. Have the knowledge, inclination and ability to work with food. This is the ultimate requirement. You must not just bring the bacon home, but you must also know how to cook it.


2. Begin with your passions. You must love what you do in order for you to merit such high positions and prestige over time. Mechanical skill isn't enough for something which requires so much passion. So make sure you have it in you.

3. Manipulate the utensils but not the people you work with. Make sure that you know how to use a knife, but know that you don't use the other people handling the knife.

4. Work your way up and get to your desired position by taking jobs that will get you there. You can't expect to be of European chef caliber if you are stuck working in the Bahamas. Find your niche and stay there.


5. Have a mentor in the cooking field. The person who you ask to mentor you must be someone you respect, someone who can cook something you truly appreciate and someone who has reached master chef status.

6. Enroll in a cooking school. Chefs aren't born, they are made. You need to understand that despite your good old cookbooks that helped you grow in your skills, you still need some level of education that meets the global standards, or at least, the standards of the niche you are trying to reach.

7. Eat! I am not joking. This is really a very important aspect of becoming a master chef. You need to be a master taster too.


8. Don't be afraid to start low. Most of the master chefs didn't become cooking superstars overnight. They labored, and toiled, with the cauldrons and bubbles before they emerged with the world's finest cooking title.
