Home-made Candles for Different Occasions
The invention of electricity eventually made candles as decorations for homes and special occasions. Sometimes, candles are used as gifts to friends and family. Nowadays, candle making can be done at home. Here are techniques you might want to consider on varied occasions such as summer, Valentine's Day, and Halloween.
During summer, you can get creative with container candles, for example a shell candle. The things you will need for this procedure are seashell, straight paraffin wax IGI-1343, C-40 cotton core wick, ocean fragrance oil, teal liquid dye, pouring pitcher, and thermometer.
Attach your wick to the side of the shell using hot glue. After cooling down the wax at about 145 degrees Fahrenheit in a continuous stirring until bubble form on top of wax, immediately pour the wax into the shell and allow cooling.
Meanwhile, this kind of technique is set for Valentine's Day a heart-embedded candles. The things you will need include pillar wax IGI-4625, container wax IGI-4630, red candle dye, any romantic fragrance oil, pre-tabbed wicks, square votive holders, small heart-shaped cookie cutter, baking sheet, and silicone spray.
First, coat the old baking sheet with a small amount of Silicone spray for an easy removal of the wax. Then, heat the pillar wax, add color and desired fragrance. After cooking, pour the wax onto the baking sheet and allow it to cool until it s firm yet supple. Gently press the heart-shape cookie cutter into the wax and make two hearts. Then, heat one side of the square votive holder using a heat gun. Press one of the hearts inside the glass until it holds on. Do the other heart on the other side of the votive holder. After gluing the wick and heating the container wax, pour the container wax when it reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
On Halloween, you may try the mini pumpkin candles. You will need small pumpkins or gourds, paring knife, container wax IGI-4630, optional fragrance oil, pre-tabbed wicks, and ribbon or string or wire.
The first step should be cleaning the pumpkins and emptying the entire contents. This also serves as fire prevention. Afterwards, string the pumpkin by poking two holes across from each other and threading the string through. It should be long enough to avoid fire hazard. After heating the wax, pour it into the pumpkins. Wait for the wax to set on the edges before placing the wick in the center.
