Ways to Prevent Scrapbook Clutter

Among all the kinds of crafts out there, scrapbooking requires the most materials. Consequently, it has the most potential to clutter the house big time. If you have a craft room where you can keep all your stuff and where you can work, that's good. You don't have to worry about cluttering the rest of the house. But if you are like the rest of us who use the living room or the dining room and even the bedroom to do our scrapbooks, all those materials can be a nightmare.

But as much as you want to not buy stuff in the local craft store or to not bring them all out when you are doing a scrapbook page, you can't. You can't exactly visualize the page complete with all the accents. You need to have everything in sight and within reach should you decide to use them on that page. Here are some ways to help you organize your stuff and prevent scrapbook clutter in your house.

One of the best ways to avoid this is to make sure that you work in just one area in the house. It does not have to be one specific area in the house. If you want to watch TV while working on your scrapbook one minute and then transfer to the kitchen, the next and work on the project while cooking, you can do that, just as long as you take everything with you when you transfer.

One way to do this is to put all your stuff in one container. An old luggage or a bag is a good idea. You can carry it easily and it has side pockets where you can put the other gadgets and materials for easy access.

Some crafters like those who are into knitting, sewing and scrapbooking use small items like beads, sequins and accents. These can be a clutter when you are working. A great solution for this is to use a tray when doing craft projects. This is especially true if you do not have a desk and is just basically working on your lap. Trays can be a great help in keeping all the small materials within one area. It also keeps beads and other small accents from rolling to the floor. Sweeping can be a nightmare. There are actually craft trays in the stores right now. Buy those with additional storage on the side. It will be a great way to organize your other stuff.
