Headache home and herbal remedies
Most people don't know it but home and herbal remedies have great potential for dealing with headaches. Aside from being readily available, these remedies are comparatively cheaper and have little or no side effects at all.
People regardless of gender, race, and status in life have experienced a headache once in his or her lifetime. Since it is one of the indispensable and common illnesses everyone experiences, people should learn ways to relieve the discomfort brought by headache by natural means.
The remedies for headache
The most common causes of headaches are physical and emotional stress. 1. Home alternatives. To soothe headaches at home, use a cold compress or packs. For tension headaches which is the most common form of a headache, apply a warm or cold compress to your forehead or the base of your neck to numb the pain. You can use a warm washcloth or a hot water bottle to ease the pain.
2. Herbal remedies. Natural and organic, herbal plants such as ginkgo balboa, feverfew, and cayenne may relieve migraine attacks. Other anti-spasm herbs such as valerian, skullcap and lemon balm as well as relaxation herbs like chamomile, rosemary and mint may ease the tension which causes headache.
3. Relaxation. Try relaxation techniques such as meditation, yoga, and biofeedback. By trying these relaxation techniques, person who suffers from headache can feel the pain flowing out of the head. It can help reduce stress. The power of music can be helpful. Try listening to relaxing music while lying down or resting. If possible, use a neck pillow in bed. If you are prone to experiencing morning headaches, try using a neck pillow while you sleep.
4. Healthy lifestyle. Exercising regularly can greatly benefit a person's overall health and lessen headaches. Physical activities such as deep breathing exercises and others activities can relieve stress by loosening up the knots and balls of pain in the head. By getting enough sleep, eliminating caffeine, salt, MSG, and chocolate in diet, not skipping meals, quit smoking if a smoker, and avoiding smoke-filled rooms can help minimize headache attacks.
These home and herbal remedies are just options in dealing with a headache. It may work for some people and may not be effective to others. It is always best to seek medical guidance from your doctor to make sure there are not any health complications that remain undiagnosed.
