House Cleaning Tips

House cleaning, the Earth friendly way

Indeed having a weekly house cleaning routine is a good thing but you might want to revisit the way your clean your home. You might be using cleaning materials that are harmful to the environment and even to your health. An Earth friendly way of house cleaning would be the better approach.

There are still a lot of toxic cleaning products like bleach available in the market which contains harsh chemicals that can leave toxic residue on surfaces aside from leaving behind that terrible smell lingering inside your home. Other products, like dish washing cleaners are petroleum based which, as we all know, is non-renewable plus are not readily biodegradable.

Exposure to these dangerous house cleaning chemicals can be fatal to children. In fact, there are a considerable number of cases of children get hospitalized due to poisoning from exposure to house cleaning products.

Because of the appeal for nontoxic cleaning products as well as new developments in science and technology, manufacturers are coming out with a number of eco-friendly and non-toxic cleaning products. These
eco-friendly products are as effective as the toxic ones. So there're actually no excuses why not switch to these kinds of products.

If you don't want to rely on products on the supermarket shelves, you can do some do-it-yourself stuff. To make your own air fresheners for example, you could resort to the all natural way: placing actual flowers inside your home. You could cook over the stove a combination of citrus peel and basil which results to a somewhat springtime smell. You could place some perfume or cologne on one of your light bulbs.

For your bathroom, you could resort to citric based powder drinks to remove the stains on your porcelain. Other things that you can use include toothpaste, vinegar, and that famous carbonated drink, you know what I'm talking about.

Dishwashing powder can be made from borax, baking soda, salt and citric acid. The combination of these ingredients can result to a pretty effective cleaning powder.

Instead of using that irritating furniture cleaner, you might want to create a green solution made from vinegar and olive oil. For polishing silver and brass, you can use a concoction made from vinegar, salt and flour.

The point is there are a lot of ways you can do some house cleaning using Earth friendly means. All you need is a little bit of patience and commitment in making the eco-friendly stuff. The benefits are all worth it.
