Making Your Own Organic House Cleaning Products

If you're planning to keep your home clean and free from all the harmful chemicals that come with off-the-shelf cleaning products then you should invest in organic house cleaning products. In fact, why not make some of your own?

Learning the Basics

If you want to turn organic when it comes to your cleaning habit, here are a few basic ingredients you need to have around the house. These basic ingredients can be found at your local organic grocery store.

1) Baking Soda is not only good for baking it also functions as a cleaner and deodorizer. Use it for cleaning by sprinkling it on the surface or use it as a paste.
2) Borax is also a great cleaner especially when it comes to your laundry. This cleaning agent is made up of boron, sodium, oxygen and water.
3) Cornstarch is a great cleaning agent for your carpets and rugs. It is also an effective substitute for baby powder.
4) Lemon juice is a natural whitener and an effectively clears away grease and stains particularly if you use them on aluminum and porcelain.
5) Salt is actually a great scouring agent. It can be both rough and gentle at the same time.
6) Washing Soda is a great all-purpose cleaner especially for removing grease and disinfecting. Although you can find it easily in the laundry section, some of them may not be organic.
7) White Vinegar is also a helpful all-purpose cleaner. It can get rid of mildew, grease and certain stains. Use this to clean your windows and to add shine to metal surfaces.

Some Cleaning Recipes

Most fundamental organic cleaning recipes involve baking soda. Only four tablespoons of it added into a fourth cup of water and you can use it as a spray or scrubbing soda. You can also make a paste version by combining three parts of it with one part of water. Just let it stay on a stubborn stain and it will dissolve the stain in minutes.

Another cleaning recipe involves three tablespoons of washing soda and a quart of water to produce an all-purpose cleaner. You can also use it as laundry detergent.

To increase your laundry, add borax to your organic laundry detergent on each laundry load.

To wash your window, combine two tablespoons of cornstarch with a cup of white vinegar and a gallon of water. To get the most out of it, use newspapers to wipe your window. Not only does this avoid creating marks on your window, you save up on paper towels too.
If you want to clean your linoleum floor just combine a cup of white vinegar with a gallon of water. To make it extra song, add a quarter cup of baking soda.

Another house cleaning tip to loosen up dirt on your microwave oven, just microwave a cup of vinegar and it will loosen up leftover food and clean up your oven too.
